Ethics, Boundaries and Navigating Challenges of Technology in Practice explores ethics and boundary considerations in addictions work. Through didactic presentations, discussions and small group activity, participants will focus on developing and maintaining a solid ethical base, discuss ethical dilemmas unique to substance abuse counselors and build a framework for ethical decision-making. This training will discuss the relationship between 42 CFR and HIPAA, and special focus will be placed on examining new ethical challenges presented by technology use in practice. Supervisory and agency safeguards related to technology use and the unique responsibilities related to counselors and confidentiality of client information will be examined.
